AC Milan signs Lopez from Catania

01/27/2012 - Milan, Italy (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - AC Milan announced Friday that it has signed striker Maxi Lopez from Catania, possibly signaling the end of the Rossoneri's pursuit of Carlos Tevez.

Milan appeared to be in the mix to land the want-away Manchester City striker, but the signing of Lopez appears to have quelled that deal.

Lopez joins Milan after two years at Catania. The Argentine striker helped the club avoid relegation in 2010, notching 11 goals in 17 games.

The 27-year-old began his career at River Plate in his native Argentina before making the move to Europe to join Barcelona. He has also enjoyed stints at Mallorca, FC Moscow, and Gremio.
